Embracing the newborn phase

The newborn stage can be an exciting and challenging time, but it’s also a period of tremendous growth and development for your little one.

Here are some tips for embracing the newborn stage:

1. Enjoy the cuddles: Newborns love to be held and snuggled, and it’s a great way to bond with your baby. Take advantage of this time to enjoy those sweet cuddles and get to know your little one.
2. Embrace the chaos: Newborns are unpredictable and their needs can change from one moment to the next. Try to go with the flow and embrace the chaos of the newborn stage. Remember, this phase won’t last forever!
3. Get plenty of rest: Sleep is crucial for both you and your baby during the newborn stage. Make sure you’re getting enough rest and don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
4. Take care of yourself: Taking care of a newborn can be exhausting, so it’s important to prioritize self-care. Make time for yourself when you can, whether that’s taking a quick nap or indulging in your favorite hobby.
5. Be patient: Newborns can be fussy and it can be challenging to figure out what they need. Remember to be patient with yourself and your baby as you navigate this new phase.

In my mom era The hubby and I had a kidless Satur

In my mom era

The hubby and I had a kidless Saturday morning. Yes, that included Joi. It was a little hard, but I left her for the first time so that we could attend our weekly marriage small group at church. & guess what? We both did okay. I was able to stay focused and she slept the entire time I was away.

To prepare, I started pumping earlier in the week and introduced a bottle to her. I went with the @nanobebe Flexy silicone bottle due to the incredibly soft, breast like silicone which makes it easy for babies to transition from breast to bottle.

I’m so grateful for my body’s ability to create what’s needed for me to nourish Joi.

My girls ♡ They inspire me to always do my best

My girls ♡

They inspire me to always do my best and motivate me to dream even bigger. Jade makes the cutest ‘we love you’ cards in the world and Miss Joi is the sweetest girl even though she may not let mommy get enough sleep at night lol.   It can feel so hard to find the right work/life balance and I don’t always have it figured out. But I do know that these girls will always support me no matter what… and that’s all I really need!

Happy 1 month sweet girl ♡

Yep, as you imagine, I’ll be in the bed crying all day because how is she already a month old. It literally feels like I was just in the hospital.

Things she loves:
Contact sleeping, being held, bath time, & mommy’s milk

Things she’s not a fan of:
Being put down & her car seat

30 days of nourishing her The first few weeks of

30 days of nourishing her

The first few weeks of breastfeeding are the worst.

Chapped and bleeding nipples.

Incorrect latches causing pain.

Cluster feeding.

I always tell people that if you can make it through that phase, you can make it to whatever milestone you set.

I obsessed about breastfeeding when I was nursing Jade. I overly worried about how much milk I was producing. Ordered so many different teas and made who knows how many variations of lactation cookies. I literally drove myself crazy.

I did things differently when I was breastfeeding Jaxon and just allowed my body to do what God intended it to do. That’s my plan this time as well.

I’m not stressing nor constantly measuring my output. I will also be okay if I needed to supplement with formula this time around. It makes the breastfeeding journey much more enjoyable and you’re able to focus on what works best for you and the baby.

I’ve enjoyed capturing all these special moments and being Joi’s source of nourishment for the past 30 days. I try to be intentional about seizing each moment because I know they won’t last forever and one day we’ll have our last session. I’ll miss it so much!

Disclaimer: I don’t share my breastfeeding journey to shame anyone who feeds their baby differently. Fed is best!!
