A little bittersweet to be sharing my 39 week pregnancy update this week, but here are the details of my final week of pregnancy…forever!

Omg, you guys. I’ve made it my 39th week of pregnancy and that means it’s officially induction week. I have all the feels and I still can’t believe that in just a few days I’ll be snuggling a newborn baby.

My 39 Week Pregnancy Update

I actually made it to 39 weeks and I’m actually surprised. I thought I would go into labor before my scheduled induction date, but the baby is still comfy. This past week has been a bit emotional from celebrating my 34th birthday to trying to soak in all the last moments of the last time I’ll be pregnant. It’s bittersweet for sure.

Why am I being induced?

First things first. Why am I being induced at 39 weeks? If you’ve been following my journey, you know that my OBGYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) doctors agreed that I should be induced due to gestational diabetes and Polyhydramnios, which is an increase in amniotic fluid. Their recommendation was right at 39 weeks, but I advocated for myself and we went with 39 weeks and 3 days, which is this Friday. Being induced leading into the weekend worked out way better logistically for our family since we needed care for our other two kids.

My husband and I at the XO Marriage Conference

I turned 34

Happy Belated Birthday to me! I turned 34 on Friday, and my husband and I spent the weekend attending a marriage conference at church. We also had a little date night at Copper’s Hawk. Their “Over The Border Egg Rolls” have me in a chokehold.

How’s baby J doing

Baby J is doing absolutely amazing. I had my last neonatal stress test (NST) and ultrasound today. The baby was sleeping during the majority of the testing, but they were able to get what they needed and I was able to leave. I was praying the entire time because I didn’t want to be sent directly to labor and delivery to get the induction started earlier.

Any labor signs yet

Every night, the contractions pick up. Some nights I can barely lie down comfortably because of the pain. By morning, the contractions are gone. I have been slowly losing part of my mucus plug, but for the most part, it looks as if the baby will stay put until its eviction on Friday morning.

Still working or started leave early

I’m still working and if I could do things differently, I would have taken this week off. Thankfully this is a short week due to Presidents’ Day, so I’ll just be working three days, and I opted to work from home instead of going into the office.

Anything interesting happened this week

I somehow thought it was a good idea to accept a brand campaign that’s due this week. Luckily, I didn’t go into labor early and I was able to get the content filmed in just the nick of time.

Best moment from the past week

Other than celebrating my birthday, it was getting in another date night with my husband. We have been so wrapped into getting things ready for the baby, that we hadn’t had time to connect with just the two of us.

What am I missing the most

Probably sleep, but I’m sure I won’t get a good night’s sleep for a few months to come.

What am I looking forward to

Meeting baby J and seeing the kids’ first reaction to meeting the baby.

I appreciate you all for cheering me on these last few months. Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes have meant a lot to my family and me.
